Rev. Charlie E. Dates currently serves as Pastor of Adult Ministries at the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago - one of Chicago's most engaging ministries, and as a preaching assistant to its Senior Pastor the Rev. Senator James T. Meeks.
He attended college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he served as Vice-President (2 years) for the University of Illinois Black Chorus and as a member of the University of Illinois Student Government. He also served in the leadership of Faith Christian Peer Ministry, then an affiliate of Campus Crusade for Christ, targeting the African American College Student.
Upon completing his undergraduate degree, he was admitted to the University of Illinois Institute for Labor and Industrial Relations, Yale Divinity School, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School - where he earned a Master's of Divinity Degree and is currently earning a PhD in Historical Theology.
While attending Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Rev. Charlie served as an intern of pastoral studies at the New Zion Baptist Church of Rockford, Illinois. At New Zion, under the leadership of Pastor K. Edward Copeland, he solidified his concepts of preaching, discipleship training, children's ministry, youth ministry, and evangelism. Now under to the training of Rev. James T. Meeks, Rev. Charlie is expanding his concepts of church leadership, ministry methods and refining his vision of Kingdom possibilities.
Rev. Charlie is married to the woman of his dreams, the former Kirstie E. Davis. The Dates' make their home in Chicago.
