The Salem Baptist Church’s Sunday School had its origin along with the inception of the church in January of 1985. In our humble beginning, we started with 7 teachers and 65 students. As we grew in obedience to the Word, we began to experience a tremendous blessing in teaching the scriptures to God’s people. As a result of His favor, we now have the largest Sunday School in the Chicagoland area including classes for singles, married couples, women, men, church ministries, topical studies, and on the internet. We have never lost sight of our mission as a ministry and disciples of Jesus Christ. We are called to reach, teach, win, train, and develop God’s people.

Salem’s Teachers’ Training Program has blessed us with many called and talented teachers and workers. Our Christian Education teachers are individually challenged to give God their best and to teach His Word using sound doctrine as taught by the Bible and our dynamic pastor. We celebrate the Lord as He continues to give our Sunday School favor. Be blessed as you study God’s Word in many different classes. Luke 2:52 teaches us that Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man. We must do likewise.

TEACHING:
II TIMOTHY 2:15

  • Called by God to teach
  • Have been a member of Salem for at least 2 years
  • Actively participating in a class for one year
  • Having completed the new member’s training
  • Receive a recommendation by a current Sunday school teacher
  • Have successfully completed teachers’ training
  • Spiritual Gifts that would enhance the Teachers: Teacher, Pastor/Shepherd, Administration, Mercy, and Prophecy

TRAINING:
II TIMOTHY 2:2

  • To provide trained workers for each level in the Christian Education Ministry
  • To continue to increase the level of quality teaching
  • To help potential teachers feel confident in their calling
  • To give God our best
  • To fulfill the command of God
  • To prepare for growth and development
  • To enhance one’s teaching gift
  • To give potential teachers our best that they may give their best

The training is 13-weeks with an additional 6-month internship in the area of their calling (Adults, Youth, Children, or New Members). There is a graduation ceremony with potential teachers wearing a cap and gown. Teachers will be placed in a class along with a tenure teacher.

In addition, every teacher is required to attend conferences, seminars, and venues to enhance their skills and techniques. This requirement is essential to the ministry to provide our students with the latest advancements of Christian Education, as well as continued personal development.

OUTREACH:
MATTHEW 25-35
The Outreach Component of the Christian Education Ministry is designed to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Therefore each class is designed to plan and implement an outreach project each quarter. Some projects could include teaching at senior homes, serving at nursing homes, giving supplies and clothing to shelters, giving donations to the food bank, feeding the homeless, soul winning, or visiting the sick and shut-in members.

TEAM LEADERS:
EXODUS 18:21-22
The team leader is an armor bearer for the ministry’s teachers and their designated class. Their role as armor bearer is to take responsibility from the teacher by tracking attendance, collecting the offering and providing assistance for the teacher as needed. A team leader is assigned to each adult class to assist the teacher. The teacher is only to teach the Word of God. He/she is never to distribute papers and materials or collect monies.

You Can Be 100% Sure That You Will Go To Heaven By:

ADMITTING THAT YOU HAVE SINNED

Romans 3:23 “For All Have Sin and Come Short Of The Glory Of God.

REALIZING THERE IS A PENALTY FOR SIN
Romans 6:23 (a) “For The Wages of Sin Is Death”

RECOGNIZING THAT JESUS CHRIST PAID THE PENALTY
Romans 5:8 “But God Commended His Love towards Us, In That, While We Were Yet Sinners, Christ Died For Us”

REALIZING THAT GOD NOW WANTS TO GIVE YOU A GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN
Romans 6:23 (b) “But the Gift of God Is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ Our Lord”

BELIEVE IN CHRIST AND ASK HIM TO SAVE YOU
Romans 10:9 – 10 “That If You Confess With Your Mouth the Lord Jesus, and Believe In Your Heart That God Raised Him from the Dead You Shall Be Saved, For With the Heart Man Believe Unto To Righteousness: And With the Mouth Confession Is Made Unto Salvation”

NOW PRAY THIS PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God and that you died for me. Forgive me of my sins,. I ‘m asking you to be my Savior and save my soul. Give me your gift of eternal life in Heaven. Help me now to live for you. I pray in Jesus’ name. Romans 10:13, “For whosoever Shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
